Since 1968, State University of Malang (UM) has organized formal education for undergraduates who wish to obtain a doctorate in education, with the name of the Purna Undergraduate Education Program, which is then integrated into the Doctoral Education Study Program (PSPD). The Doctoral Program was opened on February 1, 1977. Three years later the Masters Education Program was also opened. Based on the Presidential Decree No.60 of 1982, dated 7 September 1982, the Doctoral Education Program was officially changed to the Postgraduate and Doctoral Education Program. With the Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. 0146/0/1983, dated March 5, 1983, the Postgraduate and Doctoral Programs were designated as the Postgraduate Faculty (FPS). Based on PP No. 30 of 1990, and Kepmendikbud No. 0311/0/1991 FPS has changed its status again to a Postgraduate Program (Postgraduate) which includes the Masters Program and Doctoral Program which remains valid until now. Until the end of the even semester of the 2007/2008 academic year, UM Postgraduate graduates have graduated 374 doctors and 2548 Masters of Education.

Based on the Chancellor's Decree No. 01/2010 dated January 4, 2010 on Guidelines for the Implementation of Postgraduate Programs, one of which regulates the management of monodisciplinary undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in a management unit within one department. Since then, the implementation of the Learning Technology study program, both S2 and S3, is managed in an integrated manner with the S1 (Educational Technology) program while maintaining the name of each program.



The vision of the study program (Prodi) is to become a superior and reference study program in preparing Learning Technology developers and researchers, science, and its application in solving various educational / learning problems.




To realize the above vision, the Postgraduate TEP Masters Program at State University of Malang:

  1. organizing education and learning in student-centered study programs, using various approaches and optimizing the use of media and information technology;
  2. conduct research and development in the field of learning technology to produce superior academic work and become a reference in the field of Learning Technology development;
  3. carry out community service in order to apply knowledge in the field of Learning Technology to solve various educational / learning problems in society.
  4. holding meetings at the level of study programs that are accountable and transparent to ensure the implementation of quality continuous learning.



The aim of the Postgraduate Program of Postgraduate TEP, State University of Malang is to produce graduates who are superior and have competitiveness:

  1. Mastering knowledge to produce, use, assess and manage the process and application of educational / learning technology in theory and practice.
  2. Developing themselves as practitioners who can apply technology and educational / learning processes based on cutting-edge content and pedagogy.
  3. Facilitating learning through creating, using, evaluating and managing effective learning environments.
  4. Design, develop, implement and evaluate technology-rich learning environments in a community of users in a sporting manner. Exploring, evaluating, synthesizing and applying inquiry / research methods to improve learning and improve performance.



Competency standards for graduates of the Learning Technology master's program, include the following competency standards, namely:

  1. Content Knowledge

Students are able to demonstrate the knowledge needed to create, use, assess and manage theoretical and practical applications of technology and educational processes;

  1. Content Pedagogy

Students are able to develop themselves as practitioners to demonstrate the effective implementation of technology and educational processes based on current content and pedagogy;

  1. Learning Environment,

Students are able to facilitate learning through creating, using, assessing and managing the learning environment effectively;

  1. Professional Knowledge and Skills,

Students are able to design, develop, implement and assess a technology-rich learning environment in a supportive community of practice; and

  1. Research or Research,

Students are able to explore and apply discovery methods to improve learning and develop performance.








CONTENT KNOWLEDGE (Content Knowledge)


Students have the skills needed to demonstrate the knowledge needed to produce, use, assess, and manage Learning / Educational Technology applications and theoretical and practical processes.

  • Students are able to demonstrate the ability to create learning materials and environments using a systems approach.
  • Students are able to demonstrate the ability to select and use technological resources and processes to assist student learning.
  • Students are able to demonstrate the ability to adequately assess and assess the effectiveness of integration of technology and learning materials.
  • Students are able to demonstrate the ability to manage human resources, processes, infrastructure, and financial resources to achieve predetermined goals.
  • Students are able to demonstrate professional ethics in accordance with the current situation developed by the TEP (IPTPI) and AECT associations.


PEDAGOGY OF CONTENT (Content Pedagogy)


Students develop themselves in a reflexive manner who are able to demonstrate the effective application of learning technologies and processes based on current content and pedagogy.


  • Students are able to apply content pedagogy to produce appropriate process and technology applications to improve learning and work performance.
  • Students are able to apply appropriate technologies and learning processes based on content pedagogy.
  • Students are able to demonstrate a process of discovery that is used to assess learning suitability and to assess learning and the application of technology and educational / learning processes based on reflective practice.
  • Students are able to adequately manage technological processes and resources to build a learning community in a sporting manner, create a flexible and diverse learning environment, and develop and demonstrate appropriate content pedagogy.
  • Students are able to design and select media, technology, and processes that emphasize the multicultural diversity of society.

  • Students are able to make the right professional decisions in choosing the appropriate processes and resources to provide optimal learning conditions based on principles, theories, and practices effectively.
  • Students are able to use various assessment strategies to collect data with the aim of providing useful decision information to improve learning practices, learning outcomes, and the learning environment.
  • Students are able to determine mechanisms to maintain technology infrastructure with the aim of improving learning and performance.
  • Students are able to develop a learning environment based on ethics to direct practices that improve health, safety, excellent practice with respect to copyright, fair use, and provide adequate access to open sources.
  • Students are able to develop learning communities that can empower those with diverse backgrounds, characteristics and abilities.
