CURRICULUM STRUCTURE

 

The curriculum structure of the Master of Basic Education Study Program consists of 4 components with a total of 42 credits. The four components are 6 credits of Postgraduate Course, 24 credits of Study Program Subject (consisting of 14 credits of Compulsory Study Program and 10 credits of Study Program Concentration Subject), 4 credits of Field Experience Group Subject, and 8 credits of Thesis Group Subject. With this curriculum structure, students are expected to graduate in 4 semesters. The following are details of the Master's Basic Education curriculum.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

 

MKPS801 Education and Learning Foundation (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the concepts, goals and foundations of education, competency-based education, educational and educational learning, and liberating learning; learning theory (behaviorism, cognitivism, humanism) and their implications for learning. In addition, it also discusses the concepts, principles and theories of child development at the age of primary education, the logical structure of primary education children, the application of characteristics of school-age children in basic education in the curriculum and the development of learning strategies.

 

MKPS802 Quantitative Research Methods (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the basic concepts of research; Quantitative research characteristics; Types of quantitative research; Quantitative research procedures; Systematics of quantitative research proposals; Identify problems and determine research topics; Variables and their measurements; Hypothesis Formulation; Theoretical and empirical studies; quantitative research journal analysis; Research design; Population & sample; Instrument; Quantitative data analysis techniques and conclusion. At the end of the lecture, students are expected to be able to compile a quantitative research proposal.

 

MKPS803 Qualitative Research Methods (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the basic concepts of research; Qualitative research characteristics; Types of qualitative research; Qualitative research procedures including HTA and development research; Systematics of qualitative research proposals; Identify problems and determine research topics; Theoretical and empirical studies; Researcher's presence / involvement; Data source; Data collection procedures; Checking the validity of the findings; Data analysis techniques and conclusion. At the end of the lecture, students are expected to be able to compile a qualitative research proposal

 

MPDS801 Student Characteristics (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the essence of education with all the components in it; the nature of learning and learning; the essence of curriculum and syllabus; duties and obligations of teachers in the learning process; characteristics of elementary education students (SD / SMP) as subjects in the learning process; communication in learning; learning models, methods and media as a means of communication in learning; and equip students with the skills to compile learning designs that are in accordance with the characteristics of students.

 

MPDS802 Educational Problems in the Field of Study (2 credits / 2 js)

This course is designed to provide opportunities for students to express in writing and orally their thoughts on problems and issues in basic education. This subject examines various problem topics in basic education raised from research reports, articles, books, or the field. Students present the results of their studies in the form of papers and are discussed in class.

 

MPDS803 Basic Education Curriculum Studies and Development (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the basic concepts of the curriculum; History of the development of the primary education curriculum in Indonesia; Characteristics of curricula that apply nationally; Study curriculum implementation and its problems; Study the application of the curriculum in basic education and its problems; Development of the syllabus in basic education.

 

MPDS804 Learning Design (2 credits / 2 hours)

This subject discusses the basic concepts of the curriculum and syllabus which will be further elaborated in the form of learning designs in schools; The learning design component is in accordance with applicable regulations; Developing learning objectives, developing learning materials, designing learning models, methods and media as well as evaluating with various tools; and equip students with the skills to develop learning designs.

 

MPDS805 Learning Strategies and Models (2 credits / 2 hours)

This course equips students with an understanding of concepts related to learning strategies and models which include: learning theories, learning approaches, strategies for developing learning outcomes (knowledge, skills, attitudes), learning strategies (organizing strategies, delivery, management), learning model (changing behavior, information processing, social interaction, humanistic); and equip students with the skills to develop various strategies and learning models that are integrated and student-centered.

 

MPDS806 Learning Media (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the basic concepts of instructional media; types of learning media; the principles of learning media development; Mapping learning materials and media needed; Media development steps; Practice developing learning media and using it in the learning process in the classroom.

 

MPDS807 Learning Assessment (2 credits / 2 hours)

This subject discusses the basic concepts of learning assessment; assessment types, assessment tools, and assessment techniques include tests and non-tests. In the test technique, question forms are discussed as an assessment tool in accordance with the objectives or basic competencies and predetermined indicators; while the non-test techniques will be discussed, including interviews, observations, portfolios, journals, simulations, case studies, self-assessments (self assessment), and the rating scale (rating scales). Furthermore, the discussion is implemented in the form of planning, implementation and reporting.

 

Indonesian Basic Education Concentration Subject

MBSD801 Indonesian Language Acquisition (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the acquisition of language skills; language learning process; language teaching methods; apply knowledge of the acquisition of language skills in the classroom in learning written language and in learning a second language.

 

MBSD802 Children's Literature Studies (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the variation of thematic units in children's literature; integrated curriculum and children's literature as learning tools; and planning an integrated teaching program on the basis of children's literature.

 

MBSD803 Spoken Language Skills Development (2 credits / 2 hrs)

This subject discusses (1) listening learning, including the nature of listening, the listening process, the process of children learning to listen, the listening learning approach, the listening learning planning, and the evaluation of listening learning; (2) knowledge and experience about the speaking process, development of speaking skills, and speaking learning approaches, planning for speaking learning, and evaluating speaking learning.

 

MBSD804 Writing Language Ability Development (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the development of understanding (1) learning to read, including the nature of reading learning, the reading process, the process of children learning to read, the reading learning approach, reading learning planning, and evaluating reading learning; (2) knowledge and experience about the writing process, the development of children's writing skills, and writing learning approaches, writing learning planning, and writing learning evaluation.

 

MBSD805 Literature-Based Learning Development (2 credits / 2 hours)

This course aims to equip students with an understanding of the principles and skills of developing children's literature-based learning. Topics discussed include variations of thematic units in children's literature, integrated curriculum and children's literature as learning media and the development of children's literature-based learning programs.

 

MBSD806 Difficulty Diagnosis and Reading Correction (2 credits / 2 hours)

This course aims to make students understand the principles and practice of reading difficulty diagnosis and correction, realizing the need for teaching remedial reading, knowing various theories of difficulty diagnosis and reading correction and various assessment tools used in reading difficulties diagnosis and correction.

 

MBSD807 Children's Creative Simulation (2 credits / 2 hours)

This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge that an understanding and appreciation of concepts and values as well as skills development can be grown through puppet play, aesthetic reading, simulation and role playing.

 

Primary Education Mathematics Concentration Subject

MMSD801 School Mathematics Studies (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses mathematics topics at the basic education level. Mathematical topics studied include: number concepts, number systems, numeration systems, number operations on integers and fractions, geometric concepts, geometric systems, measurement concepts, probability and statistics.

 

MMSD802 Capita Selecta School Mathematics (2 credits / 2 hours)

This subject examines various recommendations for school mathematics learning systems produced by the developer, including: NCTM (The National Council of teachers of Mathematics), RME (Realistics Mathematics Education), CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning), CLD (Constructivist Learning Design), as well as recommendations obtained from research results at the basic education level. Through this study, it is hoped that students will be able to map important elements for designing mathematics learning structures at the basic education level.

 

MMSD803 Study of School Mathematics Research Results (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject critically examines the foundation, methodology, and analysis of school mathematics research results from research reports, national or international journals. Students can use the results of the study substantively, and can use them to support the research thesis prepared.

 

MMSD804 Development of School Mathematics Teaching Materials (2 credits / 2 js)

This course discusses the principles of developing school mathematics teaching materials, the types of school mathematics teaching materials including: teacher books, student books, multimedia learning mathematics, manipulative materials, and the use of these teaching materials at the basic education level.

 

MMSD805 School Math Problem Solving (2 credits / 2 hrs)

This subject discusses: (1) concepts, principles, procedures for solving mathematics problems at the basic education level, (2) the application of solving school mathematics problems in mathematics learning at the basic education level.

 

MMSD806 Computer Assisted Mathematics Learning (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject is not intended to make students as programmers, but rather to help students assess the appropriateness of using computers in learning mathematics in basic education and to recommend the use of computers that can increase the activeness of elementary education students. During the lecture, students are required to observe mathematics learning with computers, then develop it in the form of a paper, discuss and analyze its accuracy.

 

MMSD807 Study of the Effectiveness and Efficiency of Mathematics Books (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject aims to improve student competence in assessing the appropriateness of using textbooks and / or worksheets to support Mathematics learning in basic education. During the lecture, students are more often faced with textbooks or math worksheets, and based on the principles of good assessment, students are expected to be able to develop assessment instruments for these books and worksheets, find their weaknesses and strengths and make necessary improvements.

 

Basic Education Science Concentration Subject

MIPA801 Philosophy and Didactic Science (2 credits / 2 hours)

This subject discusses the concepts of knowledge, science, philosophy, philosophy of science, organization, interrelation, hierarchy, and scientific methods. Also discussed the nature of truth, relativity, and subjectivity of the truth of science and the limitations of science. This subject also discusses the issue of science philosophy and the relationship between science and morals and ethics. Next, it is related to the philosophy of science with how to teach science which is adjusted to the age development of students.

 

MIPA802 Basic Education Biological Science Studies (2 credits / 2 js)

This course aims to improve students' mastery and skills in Biological Science material in basic education along with the development of teaching materials for these materials in basic education. In the development of teaching materials, attention is paid to educational learning, innovation of Biological Science learning, the application of quantum learning concepts and multiple intelligences in Biological Science learning, how it relates to Biology Science learning media, Biology Science learning assessment, and Biology Science learning design preparation. In this lecture students conduct case studies of curriculum implementation and compile an operational curriculum for learning Biology Science in the form of a syllabus and an innovative learning implementation plan based on today's learning technology.

 

MIPA803 Basic Education Physics Science Studies (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject aims to improve students' mastery and skills in natural science material in basic education along with the development of teaching materials for these materials in basic education. In the development of teaching materials, attention is paid to educational learning, innovation in learning Science in Physics, the application of the concept of quantum learning and multiple intelligences in learning Science in Physics, how it relates to learning media for Science in Physics, assessment of learning Science in Physics, and preparation of learning designs for Physics Science. In this lecture, students conduct case studies of curriculum implementation and compile an operational curriculum for learning science and physics in the form of a syllabus and an innovative learning implementation plan based on today's learning technology.

 

MIPA804 Integrated IPA (2 credits / 2 hours)

This subject discusses the relationship and integration of KD in science subjects or the integration of science with other subjects in elementary or junior high schools, principles of integrated learning development, theme development techniques, theme analysis techniques, development of integrated learning planning, and integrated learning methods. In lectures students are assigned to compile a syllabus and an integrated learning implementation plan.

 

MIPA805 Study of Science Education Research Results (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject aims to improve the ability to critically analyze various issues and problems in science education. The lecture material includes the study and analysis of the results of science learning research (national and international), especially in science learning innovations, technology-based learning environments, new learning paradigms, and empirical studies on the problems and prospects of various approaches in learning. This subject combines the ability to analyze, synthesize, and present the results of studies and research analysis in science learning. Students also compile educational research designs and science learning.

 

MIPA806 Capita Science Selecta School (2 credits / 2js)

In this course, students study various recommendations for the school science learning system that are considered appropriate for teaching 21st century science al CTL (Contextual Teaching and Learning), CL (Cooperative Learning), inquiry learning, problem based learning (Problem Based Learning), project-based science learning (Project Based Science) as well as recommendations obtained from research results at the basic education level. Through this study, it is hoped that students will be able to map important elements for designing the science learning structure at the basic education level.

 

MIPA807 Computer Assisted Science Learning (2 credits / 2 js)

In this course, students learn how to learn natural science blended learning namely a combination of face-to-face learning with online learning on line, and offline. Students also learn to develop computer-assisted science learning, namely utilizing computer and information technology, for example by entering data in the form of writing, images, animation, simulation, audio and live images (video) to be stored and displayed on a computer.

This subject aims to improve students' mastery and skills in Geography material which is part of IPS in basic education along with the development of teaching materials for this material in basic education. This course material includes the characteristics of Geography subjects; Geography (IPS) scope in the basic education curriculum; Analyzing the Geography syllabus (IPS); Development of Geography teaching materials; Determine learning resources in accordance with Geographic characteristics; Developing learning methods and evaluation tools in accordance with the characteristics of geography in the basic education

 

MIPS802 Social Studies Basic Education Economic Studies (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject aims to improve students' mastery and skills in the Economics material which is part of Social Studies in basic education along with the development of teaching materials for these materials in basic education. The material for this course includes the characteristics of the Economic Matpel (IPS); The scope of the Economics curriculum (IPS) in the basic education environment; Analyzing the Matpel Economics syllabus (IPS); Development of Economics teaching materials; Determine learning resources in accordance with the characteristics of the Economic Matpel; Develop learning methods and evaluation tools that are in accordance with the characteristics of the Economic Matpel in the Primary Education.

 

MIPS803 Social Studies Study of History, Anthrophology, Sociology of Basic Education (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject aims to improve students' mastery and skills in the material  History, Anthrophology, Sociology which is part of the social studies in basic education along with the development of teaching materials in basic education. Lecture materials include the characteristics of the subject matter History, Anthropology and Sociology (IPS); The scope of the History, Anthropology and Sociology (IPS) curriculum; Analyzing the syllabus of the subject matter of History, Anthropology and Sociology (IPS) in the basic education; Development of History, Anthropology and Sociology teaching materials; Determine learning resources in accordance with the characteristics of the subject matter History, Anthropology and Sociology; Develop learning methods and evaluation tools that are in accordance with the characteristics of the History, Anthropology and Sociology subject matter in the Primary Education.

 

Integrated MIPS804 IPS (2 credits / 2 hours)

This subject discusses the basic concepts of Integrated IPS in the basic education environment; Interdisciplinary approach in social studies; Social issues and problems as well as their approach strategies in the IPS perspective; The curriculum and syllabus of the IPS subject matter in the Basic Education environment; Development of learning themes based on the Integrated IPS approach; The application of Integrated IPS learning in basic education and its problems; Field visits to see the implementation of Integrated IPS learning in basic education.

 

MIPS805 Study of Social Studies Education Research Results (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject discusses the basic concepts of journals / articles; Types of journals / articles; Characteristics of research and non-research journals; The benefits of journals in research activities; Analysis of social studies education research journals; Analyze research gap research result; Compilation of social studies education research results matrices to support thesis research topics.

 

MIPS806 Capita Selecta of Social Studies Education (2 credits / 2 js)

This course aims to enable students to understand, analyze and respond to various problems faced by teachers in social studies learning in basic education. Topics discussed include the concepts & characteristics of social studies, social studies education objectives, various social studies learning models in the basic education environment, implementation and constraints of social studies learning in basic education (curriculum, team teaching, media, evaluation and assessment).

 

MIPS807 Social Science Education Philosophy (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject basically examines the nature of science as a means of thinking logically, systematically and realistically in living a life of society and state. The topics discussed in this course include the philosophy of science in terms of ontological, epistomological, and axiological aspects as well as its responsibilities at the level of ethical, aesthetic, moral and spiritual values. In social studies education, philosophy is the foundation of social studies to train students' sensitivity in thinking, analyzing and making decisions regarding various problems that occur in society.

MGKD801 Material Study and Elementary School Indonesian Language Development (2 credits / 2 js)

This subject aims to improve students' mastery and skills in SD Indonesian as well as the development of teaching materials in SD. In the development of teaching materials, students (1) mcrank concepts, principles, and types of teaching materials development; message forms of learning materials in the form of facts, concepts, rules, procedures, problems; (2) practice selecting, arranging, and representing learning materials; and (3) familiarize yourself reflect on the results of studies and exercises. Mastery of student competencies is assessed through: written tests, structured assignments, and appearance or actions.

 

MGKD802 Material Study and SD Civics Development (2 credits / 2 js)

This course aims to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of students in accordance with the philosophy of the Indonesian nation, so that one day they can become professional educators. In this course, students study Civics in SD and the development of these teaching materials in SD. In developing Civics teaching materials in SD includes (1) Civics education of values, morals and norms, (2) Character education and a crisis of national identity, (3) Maintaining the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, Asean and Indonesian foreign policy (4) the development of the 1945 Constitution, (5) the development of the constitutional structure of the Republic of Indonesia before and after the amendment (6) Human rights and legal supremacy in Indonesia.

 

MGKD803 Material Study and Social Studies Development for Elementary School (2 credits / 2 js)

This course aims to develop knowledge, skills and good attitudes so that one day they can become educators with professional and character. In this course, students study social studies material in elementary schools and the development of these teaching materials in elementary schools. The development of social studies teaching materials in elementary schools includes: (1) SD social studies learning objectives, (2) SD social studies material development and integrated learning (3) Social studies concepts (geography, history, sociology and economics) in the local context; national and global, (4) the relationship between social studies subjects and other subjects in elementary schools, (5) internal and external cases of the Republic of Indonesia, with a social approach, (6) The influence of science and technology developments on social studies education in elementary schools and their solutions. .

 

MGKD804 Material Study and Elementary Mathematics Development (2 credits / 2 js)

This course examines mathematics material in elementary schools and the development of these teaching materials in elementary schools. Mathematical materials studied include: number concepts, number systems, numeration systems, number operations on integers and fractions, geometric concepts, geometric systems, measurement concepts, probability and statistics. The development of Mathematics teaching materials in elementary schools that was studied included: the principles of developing elementary school mathematics teaching materials, the types of mathematics teaching materials in elementary schools, including: teacher books, student books, multimedia learning mathematics, manipulative materials, and the use of materials teach at the elementary level.

 

MGKD805 Material Study and Natural Science Teaching Material Development (2 credits / 2 js)

Discusses the linkage and integration between KD in science subjects or integration of science with other subjects in elementary schools, principles of integrated learning development, theme development techniques, theme analysis techniques, development of integrated learning planning, and integrated learning methods. In lectures, students are assigned to compile a syllabus and plan for implementing integrated science learning in elementary schools.

MTES891 Thesis Proposal Seminar (2 credits)

Students are able to compile a thesis research proposal with the guidance of a designated supervisor and carry out a thesis proposal seminar which is coordinated by the course supervisor and attended by 1st and 2nd supervisors, examiner / course supervisor, and other students.

MTES890 Thesis (6 credits)

Students are able to carry out independent work in planning and implementing a scientific work on an educational problem in accordance with the student's field of specialization and writing a report in the form of a thesis under the guidance of at least two thesis supervisors.
