"ASSESSMENTS IN FIRST, CURRENT, AND COMING PHYSICS EDUCATION "
(Guest Lecture for S2 Physics Education Study Program)
Tuesday (20/9/2016). Dr. Wasis, M.Sc., a lecturer and Assistant Dean II at FMIPA, State University of Surabaya, was the speaker at a guest lecture organized by the State University of Malang Physics Education Study Program with the theme "Assessment in Past, Present, and Future Physics Education". He is a passionate figure, an expert in educational assessment, and active in various educational activities both at home and abroad. This public lecture took place from 10.20-12.00 WIB which was attended enthusiastically by S1 students, S2 students, and several lecturers. The theme raised is one tranding topic in physics education and must be known by the entire physics education community. He explained the important points about the assessment of science education in the 21st century (21st century science assessment) consisting of assessment of learning, assessment for learning, and assessment as learning. However, most educators in Indonesia still use it assessment of learning whereas the hope is that students are able to assess themselves and try to achieve what they want to learn (assessment as learning). He added that Indonesia is in the 2nd bottom of the 65 countries measured (PISA, 2012). This is due to several errors in the teaching and assessment system that are generally carried out by physics teachers which are supported by several facts found in the field. He emphasized that the key to carrying out assessments effectively so as not to have deficiencies is to obtain the results of exams and daily assignments, have clear measurements, and use valid and reliable procedures so as to guarantee children's learning rights.
